The Dog God
Tim loved dogs
Tim was never happier than when he was with his dogs Sarfy, Tassie and his beloved Guinness. While living in Hampshire he learnt about training dogs through a strong friendship with a John Fry a father figure whom he deeply respected. Tim and his dogs seemed to share a special bond with each other; it was almost as though they were completely at one.
Poem from Tim's dogs
Read at his funeral by his sister Annie
It could be argued that dogs were Tims favourite thing in the world, especially Cocker Spaniels and he certainly had a way with them. So here is a poem for the ‘’God of Dogs’’, from all the dogs he knew and loved, especially Saffie Guinness and Tassie
TIM’S SPANIELS
We were always jolly happy and made the most of every day.
Busy noses, busy spaniels, be it work or be it play
Forever on the go, we know you clearly had a doubt
That it was actually even possible to really tire us out.
Charging through the brambles or darting through the trees,
Unfailingly devoted - it was YOU we aimed to please.
We’d grab a shoe to greet you and wag our whole behind.
For our ever-loving dog-dad who was always there and always kind
What better way to spend our lives that sharing it with you
For every precious walk together all of us we knew
We thrived on taking orders, so your training made us better
Apologies, we didn’t always follow to the letter!
I know at times our "off switch" was a little hard to flick
But once it's time to settle down you had a little trick
You’d let us jump up on your knee and always bore in mind
That cuddles on the sofa were the best way to unwind
